Ransomeware - Back with a vengence

I recently had a client who called me regarding the above message appearing on their Desktop.

This is the worst possible Virus / Ransomeware to have as they lost all their work from the past two years.

The virus is contained in a fake email attachment that when opened searches your profile for Documents, Spreadsheets and Photos and encrypts them giving them a random file extension.

The above message tells the user that by sending money to the virus author they will receive an encryption key that will "unlock" their files.

This is false and no matter how much money is sent the encryption key is never given to the affected user.

The only way to stop this happening is to have regular backups.
